16 steps

1 Test airflow passage for carbon monoxide.
2 Vacuumed, clean and brush heat exchanger.
3 Inspect heat exchanger for cracks, holes, rust and separations.
4 Clean furnace filters for less restriction.
5 Check and tighten all wire connections.
6 Check for "natural gas" leaks.
7 Clean blower housing and remove debris.
8 Adjust fan belt to max efficiency.
9 Test Thermostat for proper anticipator and cycle setting.
10 Inspect thermal couple / lighter for proper burn.
11 Test fan and furnace limit for safety.  
12 Inspect gas valve for delayed ignition.
13 Inspect for dangerous combust able material.
14 Inspect for flue or chimney blockage.
15 Measure manifold pressure.
16 Lubricate all moving parts.
